Happy New Year from all of the Locos Team!
What a year it has been.
We started out the year with the key goal of getting Bolton back to basketball!
Which we has been a success and we wanted to highlight some of the things we have done over the year.
Junior Training
We started our Thursday sessions at St Josephs High School over summer.
What was a great surprise is that we seen more new faces then old to begin with.
Once that finished we returned to Horwich Leisure Centre on Sundays in our usual (Pre-Covid) slot of 2pm - 4pm. We started to see overwhelming numbers attending our junior session a problem but a very good one ,so we decided to split the session into 2 as you now know as the 8-11 years session and the 12 - 16 session.
Under 17's Team
One of our leading goals prior to Covid was more competition for our juniors,
there's still more we want to do in that area, our first step has been setting up our under 17's team that are competing in the Whitefield League in Bury.
We have a great group of lads who are committed and looking forward to developing as players and the team.
No wins just yet but its only the beginning.
Men's Team Entered Hyndburn League
We successfully entered our Men's Team into the Hyndburn Basketball League
Which was good to get our Men's team back active.
This was postponed near the end of the year due to the unfortunate passing of Chairman and overall good person Robert McGilvery.
We should see a return to the league in the new year.
Girls Basketball
We have seen a good upturn in girls attending our sessions, recently we ran an all girls event to allow girls to try the game out. Keep an eye out for more in future.
Level 2 Coaching
We were able to upskill some of our coaches to Level 2.
Coach NG (Right)
Coach Charlton
Coach Theo
It been a great opportunity for the individuals and the club which will support in making Horwich Locos Bigger & Better.
And that wraps up our round up of the year, its been wild but we have all grown from it in some way.
Thanks for all the support of our volunteers families, the parents and most of all our players. We look forward to improving our efforts in 2022.
